This was definitely one of the weirder parts of Superstar Saga. After Mario falls ill BECAUSE HE STUFFS RANDOM STRANGE COLORED MUSHROOMS DOWN HIS THROAT WITHOUT THINKING, it becomes Luigi's job to fetch the cure for his ailment. But then the doctor decides to be ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, and tells Luigi WHO HAS ALREADY AGREED TO THE MISSION that the place he's going to is CRAWLING WITH HORRIFYING MONSTERS, AND EVEN HAS A DRAWING OF ONE OF THEM EATING A PERSON ALIVE JUST CUZ.

So, with Luigi thoroughly horrified, Peach DEMANDS he still go find the cure, and he agrees. But cant jump. Because he's having a legitimate panic attack. Good going, dudes.
To progress the game, you have to take Luigi to a Magikoopa psychic who hypnotizes him into thinking he's Mario. He even demonstrates his point by showing Luigi a mirror, where he sees Mario instead of himself. And THEN you can continue the quest.
Luigi goes on thinking he's Mario until he's almost back to the town and gets struck by lightning.
Weird. Very weird. That whole game... That whole game SERIES...
I can't wait for the remake.
